Itinerary
This adventure starts really early. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 3:00 a.m., to take you on time to the Ollantaytambo train station. Remember: the exact pick-up time will depend on the departure time of your train. In Ollantaytambo we will board a carriage of either of the two companies that operate in Cusco: Inca Rail or Peru Rail to the town of Aguas Calientes. We assure you a trip full of sublime landscapes!
Our guide will be waiting for you in Aguas Calientes to take you to the bus stop. There we will board a bus that will take us to the entrance of this monumental city. You will have the opportunity to explore this archaeological site for 2 hours in the company of our professional guide. In this way we will learn the meaning of these incredible constructions, the architecture of the Incas is truly amazing! They managed to build a safe, sustainable and well planned city on the mountains thanks to their deep relationship with nature. Among other feats, they managed to distribute water to the entire population through canals.
After the tour, you can climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain. Be sure to book your tickets in advance. The time it takes to go up and down either of these mountains is approximately 3 hours. A less demanding option and for which you do not need any extra ticket is the hike to the Sun Gate. It takes 2 to 2.5 hours round trip. Another interesting option is to walk to the Inca Bridge.
Once we reach the end of our visit, we will return by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can have lunch at one of several restaurants according to your preference and budget.
Approximately between 01:37 p.m.-06:20 p.m. (depending on availability) we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. Remember that this schedule may change due to availability. After 2 hours on the train, you will arrive in Ollantaytambo and board a bus that will take you back to the city of Cusco where you will arrive at approximately 09:00 p.m.
